Predictions Semis/Finals
November 20, 2008

This is It! Edition
Well folks, our season is almost over, and it’s been an interesting trek. This is the last prediction for Fall League, and my goal is to finish strong. I would like to point out, that I did indeed defeat Mike- breaking my streak of crushing defeats. As for guest pickers, I’m using all of the participants from the “You Pick ‘Em” contest.
Chump Semis
“7
Seas” (8 Seed) versus “Green Goblins” (4 Seed)
You know, I just don’t know
what the deal has been with Navy Blue.
They had cool cheers, cool players, and heck- even a cool name. And yet, they have turned into the forfeit
kings. Is it a lack of heart? Perhaps there’s a character deficit, or maybe…
just maybe, they thought that League ended in October. Can the Seas earn the trifecta
by forfeiting three times in a row? Man-
we can only hope. On that note- without
any insider information, I say that the Seas forfeit again. Green Goblins by 13.
Jack’s Pick: Green Goblins by

Wheels: Green Goblins by 2
Pilgrim: 7 Seas by 3
Matt G.: 7 Seas by 3
The Lieutenant: Green Goblins
by 2
Showkiller:
Green Goblins by 4
Mike M.: Green Goblins by 5
“Golden Girls” (7 Seed) versus
“No Fear” (6 Seed)
If, and only if, No Fear had
as much heart as the Golden Girls, they’d be on the fast track to the Finals in
the championship bracket. There’s no
dispute that Matt’s dedicated 6 played their hearts out in the Quarters, but
virtually everyone called the result- Red by 2. Now, if the Fearless can field seven warm
bodies and keep Brodie’s interest, then they’re my
favorite to take the Chump bracket. The
Girls fight hard- but they’re just missing that special something that leads to
victory. What is that? Oh, I know: points. Yeah, the GGs just won’t score enough. No Fear by 4.
Jack’s Pick: No Fear by 4
Wheels: No Fear by 5
Pilgrim: No Fear by 4
Matt G.: No Fear by 3
The Lieutenant: No Fear by 1
Showkiller:

Mike M.: No Fear by 4
Champion Semis:
“Red Scare” (3 Seed) versus “32
Colts” (2 Seed)
Let’s see- Red has played
strong against every single team… except for black. What is it about the Colts? Is it Alisha’s speed, TK’s clock management
skills, or the quirky enthusiasm drills put together by Captain Patrick? Whatever it is, I think it’s time to call a
spade a spade (pun intended): The Colts
own the Scare, will take care of business.
The Reds,- to their credit- have gone as far as I thought they would. But now they’ve reached their logical
conclusion. That’s it. The Colts win, and win big. 32 Colts by 5.
Jack’s Pick: 32 Colts by 5
Wheels: 32 Colts by 4
Pilgrim: 32 Colts by 4
Matt G.: 32 Colts by 2
The Lieutenant: 32 Colts by 4
Showkiller:
32 Colts by 3
Mike M.: 32 Colts by 3
“Hell’s Bells” (1 Seed) versus
“4!” (5 Seed)
Remember how I said that I
thought that 4! might be one of the best teams
around? Turns out- as it should be- that
I was right. 4! came
out last week and obliterated the Greens.
And of course, the question with 4! has always
been how much they really care. At this
point, I’m guessing that they’re all a bunch of disc-whores and are looking to
win it all. Before last week’s
performance by 4!, I was a Bells guy. Not anymore.
The worst team with a 7-1 record in the history of field-disc is going
down, and going down hard. Look for the
funnel defense to crush Silver. Sorry
Cinderella. It’s midnight. Now go home and clean the floors. 4! by 5.
Jack’s Pick: 4! by 5

Finals:
If I am right about
the semis (and I am!), then it’s going to be the Goblins versus No Fear. I suspect that this will be a good game, and
I suspect that Green might have the edge due to more subs. Still- when it gets down to it- No Fear has
more talent, and insider info says that the speedster Coleman is out due to an
extracurricular injury. Based on that
then, I’m going with the Deep Royal Blue Something. I think they take care of business, but it’s close. No Fear
by 2.
Jack’s Pick: No Fear by 2
Wheels: Green Goblins by 2
Pilgrim: No Fear by 3
Matt G.: No Fear by 3
The Lieutenant: Green Goblins
by 2
Showkiller:
Green Goblins by 4
Mike M.: Green Goblins by 2
Championship
Finals:
And now, ladies and gentlemen:
the main event. This will be a fantastic
clash between White and Black, between slightly neutral indifference, and
really nice guys who somehow got a super-stacked team. The titans will clash, the heavens will
shudder, and by the time this comes to an end, the Wolf will have swallowed the
sun, or as you Americans like to say: sunset.
Anyhoo- this will be a great game, where the
bumblebee meets the funnel. In a very
tight game, I will go against myself. 4!
will win it all, by a razor thin margin and take it on
Universe Point. 4! by
1.
Jack’s Pick: 4! by 1. (over the Colts)
Wheels: 32 Colts by 3 (over the
team that beat Green)
Pilgrim: 32 Colts by 4 (over
4!)
Matt G.: Hell’s Bells by 3
(over the Colts)
The Lieutenant: 32 Colts by 4
(over the Bells)
Showkiller:
32 Colts by 2 (over the Bells)
Mike M.: 32 Hell’s Bells by 2
(over the Colts)
Well everyone- I hope you
enjoyed the picks. Have a nice
Thanksgiving and Winter break. Rumor has
it that the Czar is at this very moment working on the Winter League schedule, so I hope to see that you’re all back soon. Cheers.
